The most stunning natural creations must be the two pristine sandbanks of soft white sand which rise out of the turquoise blue of the Indian Ocean. In the morning we set down on one of these beautiful sandbanks where you can relax, swim or snorkel. With our snorkelling equipment and experienced snorkelling guides, you will be able to enjoy the pristine coral reef, which teems with tropical sea life. Instructions are also available for beginners, and fresh coconuts and local snacks are available throughout the day.
After snorkelling, if the tide permits, we move on to have lunch and spend the rest of the afternoon on a second sandbank near the island of Pungume. The sandbanks have been described by many clients as the most idyllic places in the world.
Lunch will be a traditional dish of barbecued fish, rice, lentils and fish curry. Chilled fruit juice, mineral water, and bottled soft drinks are available throughout the tour. Join the crew for a sail on a “ngalawa” a local canoe with outriggers which has been carved from a single mango tree.
Return to Fumba is by sail, wind permitting, and clients arrive back at their hotel at about 17:30 (5:30 pm)
On arrival, before the tour begins the participants are given a short briefing about the programme for the day and safety on board. The dhows are hand-built from African mahogany, finished and maintained to the very highest standards. This is a full day trip on locally constructed sailing dhows, fitted with outboard motors, marine VHF radios, life jackets and other security requirements.
